The buildingL’immeuble
Les Lofts d'Argenson occupies the former Sherwin-Williams paint laboratories, the last building of the 1880s paint works to be converted, next door to Les Lofts Sherwill on the same block. Work began in 1996 as part of the wider push to bring the canal banks back to life, and the result is 41 hard lofts over three floors, with twelve-foot ceilings, exposed beams, original wood floors and very large windows. The conversion added anti-vibration insulation between units, unusual for a loft building of this vintage, which makes it noticeably quieter than most. Some units carry mezzanines, private terraces or a ground-floor yard, and the canal path, Charlevoix metro and the cafes of the Pointe are all a few minutes away.
