2460 rue Sainte-Cunegonde is the larger of the two doors of Les Eclusiers, a loft condominium that occupies most of a block just north of the Lachine Canal in Little Burgundy. The complex was created out of an old brick industrial building, described in project write-ups as the Stearns building, by restoring the original masonry and heavy timber and stacking a contemporary glass-and-steel addition on top, which is why residents describe the units as industrial lofts rather than conventional condos. The City's roll records 49 residential units at 2460 and another 33 at 2450, and the two doors are governed by a single syndicate, so the 82 units quoted for the project line up with the public record. Interior features that carry through the building are roughly fourteen-foot exposed brick walls, restored wood floors and beams, central air, and a shared roof terrace. It sits a short walk from Atwater Market, the canal bike path and the restaurants of Notre-Dame Ouest.
Worth knowing: À savoir : The construction year is contested: the City's assessment roll says 1947 while project and architect write-ups date the original industrial building to 1873, and the year the conversion itself was completed is not confirmed by any primary source.
